ECZEMA/PSORIASIS
ECZEMA (Dermatitis)
Eczema is an allergic reaction in the skin, producing inflammation and resulting in red, itchy patches or a rash. Eczema is often a very uncomfortable condition, as the skin may become dry and scaly, or blisters may develop which burst and bleed or ooze fluid. Contact dermatitis occurs when the skin reacts to a substance with which it is in contact: for example, perfumes, cosmetics, rubber, metal, plants, animals, etc. Atopic dermatitis may be triggered by food allergies and stress or tension. Sometimes eczema can be seen as an attempt by the body to throw off accumulated toxins through the skin, especially where the diet has been very poor. Therefore, it is important to adopt a diet consisting of natural foods. Exclude possible allergenic foods such as dairy products, wheat, sugar products, and food additives. Implement a high alkaline, low acid diet which is high in fresh salads, fruits, and vegetables.
PSORIASIS
Psoriasis is a skin disorder in which the skin grows too rapidly on certain parts of the body, forming a slightly raised area covered with dry, thick, red, and inflamed patches which may crack and bleed. This condition is not infectious. Itchy and weepy eruptions may appear anywhere on the body but are often found on the scalp, knees, and elbows. The condition may be hereditary, caused by stress, or the ingestion of allergenic foods. Adopt a natural food diet. Eliminate refined carbohydrates, tea, coffee, and wheat totally. Increase plant protein intake with unsalted nuts, seeds, grains (except wheat), and pulses. Have a high daily intake of fresh fruits, salads and vegetables. Limit dairy intake to cottage or feta cheese, in moderation.
Suggested essential oils: Bergamot, chamomile (German or Roman), geranium, lavender, melissa, lemon, yarrow, blue tansy, cedarwood, cypress.
